Volunteering at the Jessamine County Animal Shelter
Volunteers are very important to us. Your time can be a valuable gift. Our shelter offers the following volunteer opportunities:
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT- providing assistance to the animal shelter staff with office operations such a filing, typing and other office work as needed.
SPECIAL EVENTS – assisting with a variety of events including offsite adoption events.
ADOPTION COUNSELOR – Introducing potential adopters to animals, socializing and exercising adoptable animals, escorting clients through the adoption area pointing out specific animals that may be suitable for their lifestyle, professional approach to handling the animals and dealing with the public.
GROOMING – bathing, brushing and maintaining the overall appearance of the animals.
HUMANE EDUCATION – assisting animal shelter staff with humane education programs.
DOG WALKER – exercisomg our shelter dogs and aid in teaching the basic commands so they are ready for their new homes.
